For jack-of-all-trades Saman Amini we created a music video for his song Laat Me Toe (loosely translated as
Let Me In). The video is set in a dystopian near-future Holland, in which the current racial divides are
further
institutionalized
to the point of
segregation.
Laat me Toe
tells the story of Saman’s attempt to intergrate in a society that continues to see him as different.
Creating a World
Together with animator Huig van den Hoofdakker I created a full fledged world for this music video. The only ‘real’ people in the video are Saman and his relatives, which we shot in front of a green screen. The rest of the characters and locations are all painstakingly crafted by us, designed to portray an ominous version of the looming future of Dutch
society.
